If you are writing about Nigerian sustainability reporting, we will give you a straight answer on the record — including where we think the market is being oversold.
Cleared for use without further approval.
Emvert is an ESG compliance and carbon accounting platform built for Nigerian companies that must meet Financial Reporting Council and Securities and Exchange Commission sustainability reporting requirements. It collects emissions data, calculates it using Nigerian grid and fuel emission factors, produces disclosures in FRC and SEC report structures aligned to ISSB S1 and S2, and links every reported figure to its source evidence. Emvert is based in Lagos and is licensed annually in Naira.
Regulatory dates and framework names, stated as we understand them. If you need a primary source for any of these, ask and we will point you to it rather than to our own page.
The first mandatory reporting year for listed companies under the Securities and Exchange Commission’s sustainability disclosure requirements.
The first mandatory reporting year for public interest entities under the Financial Reporting Council’s adoption of the ISSB standards. Public interest entities is a wider category than listed companies and includes banks, insurers and large unlisted businesses.
The point at which the reporting net widens to small and medium enterprises. In practice many smaller suppliers are pulled in earlier by the Scope 3 data requests of the listed customers and banks they supply.
The International Sustainability Standards Board’s general sustainability disclosure standard (S1) and climate-related disclosure standard (S2). Nigeria’s requirements are built on these, which is why a Nigerian disclosure is structured around governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics and targets.
The GHG Protocol’s division of emissions by who controls the source: direct emissions from what you own and operate (1), emissions from the electricity you purchase (2), and everything else your business causes across its value chain (3).
We will not give you a number for how many Nigerian companies are ready to report, because nobody has one that survives scrutiny and we are not going to manufacture the first.
We will not describe a competitor’s software as bad. Global platforms are well built for the markets they were designed around; our argument is about fit, and it works better when stated fairly.
We will not put a customer’s name or figures in a story without their written agreement, however useful the example would be.
Logo lockups in light and dark, the mark on its own, and the colour and typography specification are available on request. Please do not recolour the mark, set the wordmark in a substitute typeface, or place Verdant green behind white text — that pairing fails accessibility contrast and we would rather it did not appear anywhere.
We have not started press outreach, so there is nothing to list here yet. When Emvert is written about, this page will link to the original publication rather than to a summary of it.
Four questions, and you get the year you first file, the framework, and what to collect first.
Plain-language explainers of the FRC and SEC rules, ISSB S1 & S2, and what each asks you to disclose.
